A soloist known for his acoustic melodies, Robbie will play a blend of Irish music, classical tunes, original songs, and a few familiar tunes. Before or after the music—sets begin at 7 and 8 p.m.—visit the galleries, shop in the Museum Store, or visit the Museum Café for a light dinner (limited menu available) or dessert. SkiCove is a snowtubing park located in Gore, Virginia. It has trails over 900 feet long, 135 feet of vertical elevation with rope tow to take you back up to the top. They also have a warming building at the top for your convenience and sodas, bottled water, hot chocolate, and candy at the snack bar. They do 2 hour tubing sessions and cost $17 per person. They do not take credit cards. We are going to do there last session from 7 until 9. I will bring waivers for tubers to fill out. Here is a link to there website http://www.skicove.net/. This meetup depends on weather and I will update it accordingly. Directions From Winchester Take Rt 50 West (Northwestern Pike) for 8 miles. After crossing second set of tracks, turn left onto Rt 751. Pass small gas station/country store on left. Make next left onto Rt 704 (Back Creek Rd). Use extreme care on Rt 704. There are many curves and slippery places when the weather is inclement. Follow for about 4-1/2 miles and turn left onto Rt 683, Cove Rd. In about 1/2 mile you will come to the Boy Scout Camp. Bear left to pass through the camp parking lot and onto SkiCove property. Go 1/3 mile, pass the slope on right and turn right into parking lot. Please park in the open parking area. Do not attempt to drive up to the top.

This special evening opening of the Museum will feature a discussion, book signing, and sale of the new MSV catalogue Come In and Have a Seat: Vernacular Chairs of the Shenandoah Valley. Published in conjunction with the special exhibition on view at the MSV through June 20, 2010, the catalogue includes essays by the exhibition’s guest curator, Jeffrey S. Evans; Associate Professor of English & American Studies at Bridgewater College Scott H. Suter, PhD, and Winchester chair expert Wayne Anderson. All three authors will participate in a panel discussion about their essays and the exhibition at 7 p.m. Before or after the program, see the exhibition Come In and Have a Seat: Vernacular Chairs of the Shenandoah Valley and purchase your copy of the newest MSV publication.
